Ekufikeni (Arrival)

We arrived yesterday but it has been a little crazy in terms of getting settled in. Our dear friend Linn drove us to our quaint little apartment in Braamfontein, the student hub and trendy inner city suburb in Johannesburg. Jet-lagged and sweaty, we dragged our bags into the room and realized that it was most definitely not the apartment we had booked. Too tired to care, we got changed and showered, waiting ten minutes for our hot water to go cold, put on our Sunday dresses and went to dinner at burger place called Rocomamas, an Australian created franchise...seriously, we traveled for 32 hours to a completely different country and we couldn't even escape the Australianity ( totally fabricated word, copyright Benjamin Bugeja, created on the 8th of Januray 2016 )

We came back to the apartment-that-was-not-the-one-we-booked and realised that the 39 degree heat had made the apartment a sauna and also enhanced the smell of bin juice left behind from the previous tenant. Exhausted and sweating profusely, we took turns laying on the tiles in our bedroom, long story short, I snored spread eagle while Kellie tried tirelessly to greet the Sandman. Today, we have moved into our correct apartment, nice and cool, on the 8th floor and could not be happier, having shopped all day buying the bare essentials for our humble home, things like towels that do not dry your body and tea towels that leave everything covered in fluff. We are making this as difficult as possible ;)

A present from Linn, also my foot rest to help calm my swollen feet. Damn planes.

We are so happy to be here and I personally cannot wait to see the Three2Six kids again! Kellie and I are so grateful to have such a supportive group of family and friends who have all helped make this experience possible, the words 'thank you' could never mean more....

Stay tuned.

Kellie says hi.
